Why I’ve added a “Start Here” page.

At the start of the year, I decided to improve my blog, narrow down my niche and to connect better with my readers. I’m working with Dan Blank, from WeGrowMedia who is helping me develop a more human-centred approach to both book/blog marketing and in reaching more readers. He has given me excellent advice over the last few months.

One of which is to have a “Start Here” page. This will help readers understand the actions I took that helped me start and continue on my self-discovery journey.

His advice coincided with many requests I’ve had from readers over the years for me to list my best articles and/or to chronicle the actions that have had the most impact on my growth.

Here goes…

Start Here

In starting my self-discovery journey, I made a conscious effort to delve deep into who I was. I went internally, going narrow and deep. I recognized that all the heavy lifting must be done on the inside and not for external validation.

The reality is that the outside(society) often distracts us from our own journey. We end up comparing with others and judging ourselves, never truly accepting the ‘true me.’

The articles below will serve as a guide for you to start on a self-discovery journey that will improve your well-being and lead you to live a more meaningful life.

10-point Guide to begin on your self-discovery journey

  1. Know Thyself test.
  2. Use Journaling to dig deep into your psyche.
  3. Start creating habits for a lifetime.
  4. Read as much as you can. In the words of George. R.R. Martin, “A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one.”
  5. Make your Mornings magical and the bedrock of your day.
  6. Why taking Action is at the heart of the journey.
  7. How to Stop Caring What Society Thinks & Make Your Own Rules
  8. Why we must give of ourselves and serve humanity
  9. Pain rather than happiness leads to growth
  10. Why Emotional Intelligence is something that we need to learn.

I rise daily at 5 am, meditate, read and journal on my Self-awareness journey. Some of my reflections make it to my blog; others don’t. (http://mo-issa.com)
